"SERENITY . . . in the middle of the Morea"

WELCOME TO

Foresta In Medias Mores

Luxury in harmony with the natural environment

The forest in the centre of the Morea

Overlooking the ancient mountains of Arcadia, in the heart of the Peloponnese, awaits a fresh and uplifting experience . . . a unique destination where a woodland lodge, rustic yet refined, offers quiet comfort and traditional Greek hospitality in harmony with nature.

If your idea of bliss is tranquility in a natural environment, then Foresta In Medias Mores is the place for you.

The “other” Greece

We look forward to welcoming you to Arcadia — to the mountainous beauty of the “other” Greece.

Here at the Foresta you can dine in the restaurant, enjoy a drink in the café-bar, or sleep in the 10 elegantly decorated rooms. You can also celebrate important occasions in our special-events venue — with panoramic views of the Skiritidas pine forest and the ridges of the Taygetos mountains.

“Et in Arcadia ego”

In Greek mythology, Arcadia was the wilderness home of the god Pan as well as dryads, nymphs and other spirits — a utopia where humans and mythical beings resided in peace.

Built on an wooded slope of isolated Arcadian land, Foresta in Medias Mores means “the forest in the centre of the Morea,” the medieval name of the Peloponnese. The word morea (μορέα) means mulberry, so perhaps the name comes from the region’s many mulberry trees, or its likeness to the shape of a mulberry leaf.

Location
We are located 22km south of Tripoli, on the upper edge of the traditional mountain village of Vlachokerasia. At an altitude of 1,100 meters, the mountain breezes are a respite in summer and create a true alpine experience in winter.

In all seasons the horizon is painted in many shades of green.

The dreamer

The soul of the Foresta is Nadia Iliopoulou. She left Athens 11 years ago, forsaking a successful career as a sales manager and photo editor, and relocated to Vlachokerasia, her paternal village, where she realised her vision of welcoming visitors to this beautiful area of Greece.

Along with her husband Christos, a native of Vlachokerasia, they delight in making guests feel at home. Now their son is growing up here — and Nadia’s Athenian life seems a very long time ago.
