The region was reforested beginning in 1960 thanks to local forester and pioneer ecologist Anastasios Stefanou (originally from Kerasia), who envisioned from a young age the revival of the forest. The wild fauna (birds, wild boars, etc) have now found a hospitable shelter there, one of the largest re-created forests in Greece.<\/p>\n<p>Mountain bikes can be hired for groups of three or more,
